Venice Municipal Airport…a delightful mix of history and functionality. Built in the early 1940’s by the US Government, Venice Municipal Airport served as a World War II flight training facility and then was given to the City of Venice after the war. It is built on 835 acres of land only 1.7 miles south of downtown Venice. Two 5,000 foot runways intersect each other, both 150 foot wide utilizing current lighting and flight technology.

The majority of the air traffic traveling to and stored at Venice Municipal are small single-engine aircraft, with fewer multi-engine and an occasional jet and helicopter. Major airlines do not service this airport; unless there are particular arrangements made with a private service, charter pilot or you are a pilot, it is not possible to fly home from here.
