Southwest Florida is lucky to boast airport quality like no other. And Venice is in the heart of the airport “triangle.” To the north is Tampa International Airport, handling about 20 million passengers per year and in the process of increasing its capacity even farther. To the south in Ft. Myers is Southwest Florida International Airport, rated one of the top 50 airports in the U.S. for passenger traffic. A just a short distance to the north, in our neighboring city of Sarasota, is Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, an smaller airport, yet with international capacity, has a user-friendly terminal and attractively maintained surroundings that exemplify the best of Florida. 1.7 miles from downtown Venice, sits the Venice Municipal Airport, a small aviation facility used primarily for private planes and charter planes, with the occasional small jet and helicopter. Don’t expect to be able to hop in a cab to this airport and catch a flight unless you have previous arrangements with a private pilot or charter company. Because the other three airports around Venice are all International and are all a relatively short distance, it is recommended to shop around for the best price and the most convenient times!
