Anna Maria Island Real Estate
Homes for Sale on Anna Maria Island preserve the best of Florida's unique charm. Thanks to the island's carefully managed development, you're unlikely to find your Anna Maria home overshadowed by high-rise condos or sprawling, Spanish-revival palaces.
Instead, Anna Maria Island real estate is a showcase of classic beach houses, bungalows, and quirky Florida-modern buildings.
The island is also home to many authentic vintage homes from the early 20th-century, as well as many homes from the past few decades which have lovingly recreated their style. Here you can expect to find exterior shutters, metal roofs, vertical siding, widow's walks, and long balconies, often on more than one floor. These homes also tend to exploit their narrow lots to the fullest, building up on stilts and pilings, cars and garages tucked underneath, with 2 or more stories above.
The long buildings open up onto screened or covered rear porches, pool areas, and in many cases, private waterfront access along one of Anna Maria's many canals.
The colonnades, cupulas, catwalks, and large double-hung windows that prevail across the Anna Maria Island market are perfect for enjoying the fantastic Gulf Coast views. In an Anna Maria home, you'll be taking in the sunsets over drinks almost any night you please.
Anna Maria Island homes are often finished in pastel tones on the outside, and cool beachy colors on the inside. Other interior details include white cabinets and trim, reclaimed or distressed wood furnishings, fresh and bright interiors, and large windows or screened-in areas.
Overall, homes in Anna Maria have managed to maintain a quaint, beach-town feeling, with very few homes extending over 4000 square feet in size. There are many between 1500 and 3000 square feet, and a good selection below 1000 as well. With this kind of choice, you're guaranteed to find your Gulf Coast home at a reasonable price.
Discover Anna Maria Island
Anna Maria Island is a key, or barrier island, located of the west coast of Florida, in Manatee County near the city of Bradenton. Bradenton is 20 minutes from Anna Maria Island and is the nearest major urban center on the mainland. Tampa is another hour's drive to the north around Tampa Bay.
Longboat Key lies to the south of Anna Maria Island, across Longboat Pass and the Gulf Drive drawbridge.

Anna Maria Island is home to three main communities: Bradenton Beach, Anna Maria, and Holmes Beach.
Anna Maria Island Attractions
While Anna Maria Island is relatively small compared to some other Gulf Coast keys, beautiful white-sand beaches still run along its entire 7 mile length. At Anna Maria's northernmost tip, Bean Point provides wide expanses of relatively quiet beachfront, secluded even from the nearby homes by a stretch of trees and other vegetation.
The serenity on Anna Maria Island is maintained by strict regulations against intensive development. As such, the island is a haven for local wildlife, most especially the sea turtles which nest along its shores every year.
Overall, the island is known for its fantastic public facilities which include beaches, tennis courts and pools, as well as the many unique eateries. The island also boasts its own compact golf course at Key Royale Club on the north shore.
