Sarasota County Sheriff Department…Providing community protection and services from youth to senior. Patrolling a county of approximately 500 square miles with a population of more than 350,000 people, the main objective is to uphold the principles and values embodied in the constitutions of the United States and the State of Florida. The patrol bureau’s three shifts respond to more than 100,000 calls for service each year. The Department is committed to youth by providing an anti-drug “DARE” education program in Sarasota County schools, the Cadet/Explorer Program for those exploring a career in law enforcement, and School Resource Officers. Other programs focus on helping the seniors of Sarasota County; these include “Seniors and Law Enforcement Together,” or S.A.L.T., the Citizens Patrol, and Safety Tips especially for seniors.
