Boating and Marine

Boating in the Venice Area… with deep water dockage and the Gulf easily accessible from almost anywhere, Venice is a hotspot for boating enthusiasts! And once the boat is in the water, the possible activities are endless. Tubing, water skiing, wakeboarding and knee boarding are popular in the open water of Roberts Bay, located just outside of the channel. Scuba divers love that they only have to go less than 30 feet to find fossilized “treasures” in the Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World. Prehistoric Megalodon teeth have been found here that exceed several inches and fossilized lemon shark’s teeth seem to be the easiest to find. Other findings have included prehistoric whale, horse and alligator teeth, inner ear bones of dolphins and whales, and ribs of “dugongs,” the ancestors of manatees.Deep sea fishing year round…With grouper and snapper good year round and other offshore fish migrating seasonally, the boat decks and coolers stay full and rods hot around Venice. Mahi, cobia, tuna, permit, Spanish mackerel, giant red fish, barracuda, dolphin, shark, amberjack, kingfish, and tarpon all pass through our local waters each year!
