Our very own North Port, Florida has been named the top growth city of 2020 by U-Haul, in a recent report.
U-Haul analyzed the migration patterns of cities across the United States, tallying the number outbound and inbound moves. The city of North Port saw many more “do-it-yourself” movers coming than going.
All in, Florida cities led the pack, 5 ranking within the top 25, with the top 3 spots rounded out by 2 additional Florida hotspots - Kissimmee and Port St. Lucie.
U-haul’s trend data is taken from more than two million one-way truck rental customers in 2020. They calculate the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks entering a city, compared to those leaving.
Compared to 2019, arrivals of U-Haul trucks into North Port increased by 40%, while departures rose by just 13% in comparisons

People are packing up their U-Haul trucks and heading to North Port because it’s an affordable place to live, and it’s central to Fort Myers and Sarasota. I’m not surprised North Port is the new No. 1 U-Haul growth city because the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s close to the beaches.
Everyone wants to live in paradise. The North Port area is expanding. There are new shopping centers and restaurants everywhere you look. The Atlanta Braves baseball team just moved their spring training site to North Port. There’s something for everyone here.
North Port is a beautiful and welcoming city, located just south of Venice in Sarasota County. The growing community has garnered a wonderful reputation for its fascinating natural springs and nearly 80 miles of freshwater canals, creating an intricate network. Locals also love the direct access they enjoy to the incredible and expansive Myakka State Forest. It's truly a wonder to behold!
