Plane Crashes on Beach in Venice Florida

Posted by Tracy Jones on Thursday, January 13th, 2011 at 7:09pm.

A small single engine plane crashed in the water and washed up on an isolated stretch of beach in Venice, Florida in the late afternoon on January 13, 2011.   The Beechcraft Musketeer crashed just a short distance south of the Venice Inlet.  It appears that the plane crashed in shallow water near the beach and came to rest on the edge of the shoreline.  Fire Rescue, Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services responded quickly.  The plane had 4 passengers, 3 adults and one child.  The child was not injured and the three adults were transported to local hospitals but were not serious.

The craft was pulled from the water and the FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.  The group reportedly flew into Venice Municipal Airport after originating in Kissimmee, had lunch, and departed.

Ironically, the manufacturer of the plane was “Beechcraft“.
