Boating in Venice Florida

Posted by Tracy Jones on Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 at 6:03pm.

Boating in Venice Florida is a year round pleasure.  During the winter, special equipment is required; sunglasses and sunblock…just as in the summer.   The only problem is when you have to go to work and the sun is shining, the waters are calm, and balmy breezes beckon you; it is hard to resist.  Venice, Florida is located on the West coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico.  One thing that makes this location ideal for boaters is that the Venice Jetties, aka the Venice Inlet, is a direct and deep water channel from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico.  This makes it easy to get to open water for fishing, scuba diving, or other water activities.   Our weather puts the pleasure back into pleasure boating.

The other terrific thing about Venice Florida is that you don’t have to winterize your boat like many of our northern friends.  It just doesn’t become an issue here.   Boating in near freezing weather doesn’t sound like much fun.  I would rather sit in the sun with a fishing rod in my hand and a cool drink.  So the bottom line…Where do you want to go boating?
