Venice Florida is located on the west coast of the Gulf of Mexico and is located 20 miles south of Sarasota and 70 miles south of Tampa, Florida.  This tropical oasis features over 14 miles of sandy beaches that are caressed by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  With the population currently estimated at 22,176, Venice still has the feel of a friendly and walkable town.  Our average winter temperature is 73 degrees.

Venice, Florida is known as the Shark’s Tooth Capitol of the World because of the fossilized sharks teeth that can be found on her beaches and in the water.  One of this writers favorite hobbies is to scuba dive in a mere 27 feet of water to find sharks teeth that are several inches in length and millions of years old.  It is like a treasure hunt but with almost certain success.

The Venice Inlet, aka Venice Jetties, is a rock outcropping that lines a navigable channel that connects the Intracoastal Waterway.  It is very significant as it provides direct access from inland waterways to the Gulf of Mexico.  Access to open water in invaluable to boaters, fisherman, scuba divers, or any other aquatic enthusiasts.   No boat…no problem; the Venice Inlet has non-stop action for fisherman.   The Venice Inlet is located at the northern end of Venice beaches.

The Venice Municipal Fishing Pier is another well known landmark to the southern end of Venice.  It also offers great fishing action and an incredible place to watch our daily sunsets over the Gulf.  At the foot of the pier is Sharky’s Restaurant where you can dine or enjoy a tropical drink directly on beach.  Sharky’s also features live music and is a must see if you are in Venice.

Warm tropical weather makes Venice Florida beaches enjoyable year round.  It is no wonder why so many families are seeking out Venice Florida homes for sale and relocating to this area.  For more information on Venice Florida Real Estate, visit http://gulfshoresrealty.com/ or call Gulf Shores Realty at 941-488-6644.
