Venice Florida Realtor Assists Haiti Mission

Posted by Tracy Jones on Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 at 3:16pm.

Matthew Ritter, Wayne Welsh, and Hap Welsh with Gulf Shores Realty recently donated to the  St. Andrew’s Haiti Mission Partnership.  The St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Albany, N.Y. created a Partnership with the St. Jacques School, Christ the King church.  They are located in Lahoye, Haiti.  Lahoye is located on the central plateau of Haiti near the border with the Dominican border.  Traditionally this is the poorest part of Haiti.  The building shown serves as both the church and the school and serves 280 students.

There is no water at the school.  The nearest source of water is a well that is one half mile away.  One of the current projects of the mission is to provide water filters for 5 gallon buckets and iodine tablets so that there is at least a small amount of clean water available for the children.  A long term goal is to develop a source of water at the school. The mission is currently sending down money to buy plates, utensils and a large pot to prepare rice and beans for lunch.  They are also sending down money to pay for the teachers at the school.  The mission’s commitment to St. Jacques School is on going and remarkable.  Wayne Welsh with Gulf Shores Realty is  proud to have been able to provide some much needed funds to support their efforts.
