Venice Christmas Boat Parade

Posted by Tracy Jones on Sunday, December 5th, 2010 at 3:23pm.

The Venice Christmas Boat Parade 2010 was held Saturday, December 4.  Traditionally, held on the first Saturday of December, parade spectators enjoyed clear skies, calm air, and temperatures in the high 60’s.  Spectators lined chairs along the parade route several days in advance to reserve their seats, a Venice tradition.  The night time event starts at 6:00 pm.  The parade route begins just north of the Albee Road Bridge in Nokomis proceeds to the Venice Jetties and then South to the Circus Bridge near Marine Max of Venice Marina where they turn around and return.

Vessels large and small, 33 in number,  slowly navigated down the Intracoastal Waterway in front of thousands of spectators.  Each was brightly illuminated with holiday themes.

The best part of the parade was the smiles on everyone’s faces.  This was a family event enjoyed by all ages.  It is no wonder, Venice Florida is such a desirable place to live.
