Flicker the Manatee

Posted by Tracy Jones on Monday, April 11th, 2011 at 2:45pm.

Flicker is a female manatee first documented in January 1983.  Flicker can be identified by propeller scars on her back and tail.  She has been spotted from Tampa Bay to Fort Myers and frequents the warm waters of the Tampa Electric Company’s power plant in Apollo Beach to survive the cold winter months.  Manatees are susceptible to cold, boat propellers and entanglement.

Gulf Shores Realty adopted Flicker through a donation to the Save the Manatee Club in an effort to preserve these gentle giants for future generations to enjoy.
