9/11 Memorial in Venice Florida

Everyone in the United States remembered, reflected upon, and honored the brave Firefighters, Police Officers, First Responders, and Patriots who lost their lives on 9/11 each in their own way. Although painful to remember, it is also important not to forget.
This writer was an on duty Battalion Chief at Sarasota County Fire Department’s Station #1 on that morning. At that moment, The President of the United States was visiting with students at Booker School in Sarasota Florida. As the events unfolded, contingency plans were implemented to ensure the President’s safety as he departed the area for the safety of Air Force One. That was the moment the world changed.
On September 11, 2012, the citizens of Venice Florida dedicated a memorial to honor the victims of 9/11. We would like to share some moments of the dedication ceremony with this attached video.
