2010 Profile of Florida Home Buyers and Sellers

2010 has been an active year for Venice Florida real estate sales.  Prices remained very affordable and interest rates held near record lows creating a flurry of activity and sales.

The Florida Realtors Report entitled 2010 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers was just released and reveals the motivations and trends of home buyers and sellers in Florida.   Some interesting facts follow.

 

Home Buyers

  • 44% of recent home buyers were first time owners.
  • The 2009 median household income of Florida buyers was $63,300.
  • Real Estate  agents were viewed as a useful information source by 98% of buyers who used and agent.
  • 89% of buyers used the Internet to search for homes.
  • The typical buyer searched for 12 weeks and viewed 15 homes.
  • 79% off buyers purchased their home through a Realtor
  • 72% of buyers would definitely use their realtor again.

Home Sellers

  • A Realtor assisted 86% of home sellers.
  • Recent sellers sold their homes for 94% of the listing price.
  • 39% offered buyers incentives such as a home warranty or closing costs assistance.
  • 88% of sellers report their home was advertised on the Internet.
  • Among recent sellers who used a real estate agent, 81% reported they would definitely use that agent again.
