Venice Veterans

The community of Venice proudly welcomes our nation’s Veterans…and is a wonderful place to live for the Veterans that already live here! We place Veteran’s memorials in prominent locations so the sacrifices of the past will always be remembered. Veteran’s Court, on the west end of Heritage Park on Venice Avenue, honors Veterans of all wars and contains a twenty one foot long marble monument, “Veteran’s Memorial.” It was dedicated on July 4, 1976 by the Venice City Council.

And next on the tour…is Army Air Base Court located east of Veteran’s Court in Heritage Park. Here stands a one third-scale replica of the Venice Army Airfield’s main entrance. This memorial was dedicated on Veteran’s Day in 1994 by the Venice Historical Commission and stands thirteen feet tall in honor of the dedicated men and women who served at this base.

Our original Venice War Veteran’s Memorial is located in the 200 block of Heritage Park and has been nicely maintained since its dedication on May 13, 1954. This three foot tall, semi-circular stone wall with two bronze commemorative plaques was erected by the No-Vel Post 159 of the American Legion.

Veteran’s Memorial Court area overflows each Veteran’s Day as ceremonies are conducted to honor those who served.
