The 6th annual Venice Blues Festival in Venice, Florida was a huge success. The two day event was held at Maxine Barritt Park alongside the Gulf of Mexico on Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, 2018. Thousands were treated to powerful and engaging performances by some of the nations Top Blues Bands. Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, Inc. was one of the charities receiving proceeds to support their missions.
Little Jake and the Soul Searchers, Joel Dasilva, Meg Williams, Super Chikan, Travis Bowlin, Jerry Marotta & Rock City Road all rocked the house to an enthusiastic crowd.
Meg Williams gave an energetic and sultry performance but her singing and acoustic skills on multiple instruments stood out.
Joel Dasilva mixed it up with some classic blues and a little bit of rock n roll.
Super Chikan embodied the heart and soul of the Blues. His songs and performance shared some of the historical origins of the Blues. He was one with his music and his deep emotion had a way of penetrating your soul.
Blues Festival attendees arrived with lawn chairs and stayed the entire day. Delicious food, beverages, including beer and wine provided everything they needed. A variety of craft vendors were also present.
All of the bands were approachable and mingled with the crowd. Wayne Welsh, Broker of Gulf Shores Realty, poses with the Meg Williams band.
